From the people we've worked with
These are edited summaries of written feedback shared by clients after their projects concluded.
Nurul Farahana
Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur
"I came in with very little idea of what I wanted — just that our apartment felt wrong. Yee Ling spent a full hour just sitting in the room, watching how the light moved. That was before she said anything. The assessment she delivered was the most useful document I've received in connection with any renovation."

Chong Kai Wei
Ampang, Selangor
"We did the full design package for a terrace house in Ampang. What I appreciated was how honest they were about trade-offs — 'this material is beautiful but will show marks in a household with young children, here's what we'd consider instead.' That kind of thinking made every decision feel well-founded."

Suriani Ramli
Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur
"The Smooth Execution service kept a renovation that could easily have gone sideways on track. Amirul visited the site three times a week at minimum, and each update he sent us was clear and practical. The contractor relationship they managed was a very different experience from what I'd had with previous projects."
Smooth Execution — January 2025
Hamdan Ibrahim
Petaling Jaya, Selangor
"I engaged just the assessment to start, fully expecting to go elsewhere for the design work. After reading what they produced, I commissioned the full design package. The quality of thinking in that first document was simply higher than what I'd seen from larger studios I'd spoken with."
Assessment → Design Package — April 2025
Lim Mei Shan
Damansara, Kuala Lumpur
"My office in Damansara was a difficult brief — we needed it to function as both a workspace and an occasional client-facing room, without feeling like either. The 3D visualisation they did helped me understand how the two could coexist. The finished space is genuinely better than what I'd imagined."
Balanced Design Package — March 2025
Tengku Azman
Setapak, Kuala Lumpur
"A straightforward project — a reading room in a family home — but they treated it with the same care they clearly bring to larger work. What I noticed most was that the furniture they sourced wasn't available anywhere obvious. That small distinctiveness in the final room is something I appreciate every day."

How specific projects unfolded
A terrace house that felt divided
A family in Ampang had lived in their three-storey terrace house for six years without the spaces ever feeling connected. The ground floor in particular — kitchen, dining, living — functioned as three separate rooms rather than one household area.
Spatial unification without rebuilding
Through material continuity — a single flooring run, consistent ceiling treatment, and coordinated lighting temperature — we connected the three zones without any structural changes. Furniture placement reinforced the visual flow.
Cohesion without a single wall moved
The family reported using the ground floor as a single gathering space for the first time since moving in. Total project duration: 9 weeks. Total design fee: MYR 3,300.
"The house finally feels like one home, not three rooms sharing a postcode."
— Client, AmpangA renovation that had lost direction
A client in Bangsar had already engaged a contractor before coming to us. Midway through, work had stalled — decisions weren't being made, contractor communication had broken down, and costs were unclear.
Steady re-engagement
We came on as the Smooth Execution support, re-establishing a clear scope with the contractor, setting a revised timeline, and taking over procurement of outstanding items. Weekly written summaries gave the client visibility and calm throughout.
Completed within 6 weeks of engagement
The renovation concluded within six weeks of Silt & Form's involvement. The original contractor relationship was maintained, costs were stabilised, and the final handover included written maintenance notes from us.
"They came in when things were difficult and made it feel manageable. I didn't need reassurance — I needed competence. They provided that."
— Client, BangsarA new apartment with no sense of place
A single occupant in Mont Kiara had moved into a brand-new apartment — all white walls, builder-grade finishes — and felt nothing in the space was hers. She wanted to feel settled but couldn't picture what settled looked like.
Working from instinct, not aspiration
Rather than a mood board of aspirational spaces, we started from her daily patterns — where she read, where she made her first coffee, which wall she looked at from her chair. The design was built outward from those anchor points.
Immediate sense of belonging
Six months after the project concluded, she wrote to say she felt more at ease in her home than anywhere she'd lived previously. Balance Assessment followed by the full Design Package over 11 weeks.
"Siti sent me a reference image early on and said, 'we think this is closer to you than your Pinterest board.' She was right."
